Restart

Well, not really an entire re-start, but the past month has been entirely lax!

So...time to get at it again so we have a chance in hell of hitting 106 by June 18. I need to remember that this is a gift to myself and something I just need to do to put myself and my health first!

So it's May 4 today...which is 6.5 weeks from my birthday.

I'm guessing that I'm at about 123 pounds...not ready to weigh myself yet. So that' s 17 pounds this body needs to shed (or somewhere close to that!)

That's about 2.6 pounds per week. Pretty aggressive and not sure that's doable, but I'm going to try.

2 pounds a week would be a 13.5 pound loss....putting me at 109.5. So I'm really going to consider anything less than 110 a victory!!!

So the plan is to get back to what was working for me before:
- tracking my food
- eating raw, clean, and natural
- less drinking! omg!
- working out 5-6 times per week
- free time be active time

Evenings are the hardest for me because I'm pretty bored. And then I eat. And then I drink...which makes me want to eat more.

So here's my goals for this week:
- Workout 4 times this week in the early evening...5 or 6 ish to cut into the evening
- No drinking during the week
- Clean, healthy eating most of the time...especially when going out
- Track food

I'm going to weigh myself next Monday and shoot for 121!

Moving along

I didn't hit my goal this week...I somehow knew I wouldn't. BUT...I'm feeling awesome and my body is looking great!

And I'm moving in the right direction. Was 121.8 today. So, again, moving in the right direction.

I had a lot of drinks and ice cream this week, so I can't say that I expected to drop a lot of weight.

This week I'll continue with 90 min of cardio for 6 days and 3-4 gravity classes.

I'm going to hit 119.5 on Monday the 9th. Just gonna. :)

Monday, February 23, 2009

Well, I hit it

So I hit 122.4, .1 below my goal for this week. But I feel disappointed.

I was feeling super thin this weekend and feeling great, so I'm a bit bummed at the 122.4 reading. I guess I need to be happy about what I've accomplished. Especially because we ate out quite a bit this week and I had some drinks.

I need to continue to remember that this is a PROCESS...not a wham-bam it's going to happen.

I do feel like I've turned a corner though and am feeling good about how I look.

So, this week I need to bust it out with 6 days of exercise and continued good, healthy eating! Goal for next week is 119.5...and that's a 3 pound loss. Aggressive by any means! But I really, really want to hit it for that psychological effect of getting past 120 in February.

March 2 - 119.5
March 9 - 118
March 16 - 116
March 23 - 114
March 30 - 112
April 6 - 110 CRUISE
April 13 - 110 CRUISE
April 20 - 108
April 27 - 106
April 30 - 105

That would be a 31 pound loss in about 12 weeks. SUH-WEET!

So that's totally doable...2 pounds/week and stasis on the cruise. Fair enough...doable enough. Especially if I stick to the tracking of my exercise and eating little calories and healthy, healthy foods!

And I need to remember that my original goal was to nail 105 by June 18. So if there is some little bit of slippage, that's ok. Progress and committing to the process is what's most important here!!! A 2-month jump on  achieving my goal is pretty damn sweet! So I guess I'll take 122.4 for today.

The great news is that I'm out of the yuk phase and really, really enjoying my body right now. And, truly, it's only going to be getting better from here.

I might meet with Michelle, the trainer, to get on a weight lifting program. That's one area that's been lacking and I don't want it to be.

See ya back here next week at 119.5...woot!

A new way

So I've been tracking my eating and exercise on my iPhone and it's working GREAT! I love managing it that way because it's not a report, but it's real active management throughout the day. I can make changes and affect each day as I go...so I'm going to continue that.

Great news is that I weighed in at 123 on Friday and 125 on Monday and 124 today! So I'm bouncing a bit, which I think is normal, but I'm down and that's what matters!

GOAL for this week is to be 122.5 on Feb 23! And to be 119.5 on March 2.

Longer term, the iPhone says that I will be 105 by the end of April if I follow the program. We're going to take a cruise mid-April and I probably won't be losing any weight that week! Maintainance would be good.

So here's what I'm shooting for:
Feb 23 - 122.5
March 2 - 119.5
March 30 - 112
April 5 CRUISE - 110!
April 30 - 105 (yeah, baby)!

I know that I can do this IF I can do these things:
- Workout 1.5 - 2 hours per day. I need to ramp up cardio to 90 minutes/day and 30 min of lifting. I may need to add in an evening work-out and more physical leisure activities.
- Less booze! I do not need these calories
- Careful about eating out!

I feel SO MUCH better already and am pumped to make this happen!

Monday, February 2, 2009

Oh it's monday

I'm kind of bummed today...didn't lose any more weight from Thursday. But I'm not surprised...I've been eating and drinking more than I'd like the past few days. Bugger.

So I'm at 129.4 today. That's 1.8 pounds. BLAH. I suppose that's not so bad, but I'd be much happier if it were around the 3 pound mark. I need to crank it up if I'm going to see better results.

I'm doing great on 60 min of cardio/day, but I need to be lifting. And I should probably be walking for 60 min a day if I can get that in, too.  And less calories from alcohol! I know what to do...I just need to do it!

I won't be able to weigh in next week because I have no scale and don't want to use another scale that might be off. So my next weigh in will be on Friday the 13 (yikes!).  I WILL BE 126 pounds on Feb 13. That's about 3.5 pounds in 10 days...doable! Just a bit more aggressive than this week's loss. 126. 126. 126. YEAH! IF and when I do that, it will put me nearly a month ahead of my schedule (124 by March 18).

I'll be out of my regular element so it will be challenge. BUT I will be doing exercises on my computer or going to The Firm AND I won't be cooking. So that actually might be to my advantage. 126 on the 13th! And I'm going to try and set up massages on the 14th as a reward! Woot! If I don't hit 126, massage is getting cancelled. :(  UPDATE: Janet isn't available on the 14th. So I'm going to use the massage as a reward for hitting my goal the next week.

RESULTS:
- 500 calories - 60 min cycling

- 100 calories - tortilla
- 150 calories - juice
- 300 calories - wine
- 100 calories - crackers
- 200 calories - salad

First Weigh-In Monday

131.2

That's a loss of 4.8 pounds and 3.5% of my body weight. The 4.8 pounds is pretty good and the 3.5% body weight is excellent! I was hoping for a weight in the 120's, but that's ok...I'll hit that next week for sure!

UPDATE...so I would have been lighter than 131.2, but that's ok! ;)

And I'll be ahead of my goal of hitting 130 on Feb 18...way ahead since next Monday is already Feb 2. I'd like to hit 127 on Feb 2. But anything less than 129 will be good. As for my weigh-in on Thursday, somewhere in the low 130's would be good...130.2 or less.

Heading to the gym!

RESULTS:
- 700 calories - 60 minutes cardio (run, bike, elip) + 25 min lifting (yeah, baby!!!!)

- 230 calories - juice! carrot, beet, celery, apple, spinach

- 350 calories - vegetable salad
- 150 calories - cheerios

Lazy Sunday

I was fully intending on working out today, but my legs are SO SORE! I think a day of recovery will allow me to pump it hard again this coming up week.

Tomorrow is weigh-in. I'm having mixed feelings about it. It always give me such a high or such a low. Perhaps I should be weighing in twice a week. Monday and Thursday.

THIS WEEK'S PLAN:
- 6 workouts of 60 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of lifting (gotta kick this lifting into gear!)

- Continued juicing (yummy!)

- Healthy dinners

- Very little alcohol...with a glass of water with each

I have good dinners planned for this week...indian, italian and some other yummy stuff.

Mentally, I'm just very determined. I am just going to be a skinny bitch and that's really all there is to it. I'm already excited to feel "normal" again at 120 and then really pumped to be skinny at 105 and be able to wear my bathing suit and pretty much anything feeling great! This is it. Gonna tackle this once and for all. Period. I only have one body and it's about time that it's taken care of properly.

RESULTS
- rest day

- 50 calories - few pieces of cereal
- 30 calories - half an apple
- 50 calories - melba toast
- 60 calories - apple half an apple
- 100 calories - red wine
- 200 calories - shrimp
- 300 calories - veggies and wheat
- 400 calories - gin & tonic
1190 TOTAL - way too much from booze...gotta reduce that this week!

Sunny Saturday

The sun is shining today. And I'm washing my workout clothes so I can head to the gym. I probably need to buy some more workout clothes. I have no idea where all of mine went. Just like with so much of my stuff. Oh well...it's just stuff! Stuff will come and go, but my body will always be with me. Which is why I'm whipping her into shape!

It's supposed to be 24 degrees today which is practically a heat wave. So we're going to take Lola for a walk this afternoon.

I'm waiting for my pants to dry and then I'm headed to the gym. Going to do 60 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of lifting. Hazaaaaaa! I am ready for some sweating.

RESULTS:
- 575 calories - 60 minutes cycling, 5 minutes weight lifting (got derailed on my 30 minutes since Katie was coming over)

So...my food results are going to be a little sketchy since I had a strange lunch. I'm feeling like I failed, but let's add it up.
- 110 calories - cottage cheese
- 100 calories - blue cheese dressing
- 100 calories - ranch dressing
- 200 calories - assorted veggies
- 75 calories - baked potato
- 25 calories - sour cream
- 300 calories - 2.5 glasses of wine
- 75 calories - popcorn
985 TOTAL

(ok...that's not seeming nearly as bad as I imagined!) That's, actually, pretty damn good! Woot!

Friday, January 23, 2009

Hey, it's Friday

Couple things I keep forgetting:

- I am HOPEFUL that at my weigh-in on Monday, I'll hit 130 pounds. I'm not sure why I feel that I can do it, but I think that I can. Call me crazy.

- I got a GREAT blue dress on super sale at Banana yesterday. It's bright blue satin. I tried and 4 and the 6. The 4 was a bit clingy on my tummy (my worst part) and the 6 was just too big. I went for the 4! With some spanx and some weight loss before Feb 8 (my gramma's party), I should be able to work it! That's a bit more than 2 weeks out. :)

I didn't sleep on Thursday night which really hosed my workout for Friday. Such a bummer. But at least I got to the gym.

RESULTS:
- 330 calories - 60 minutes brisk walking

- 220 calories - carrot, spinach, apple, cucumber, beet juice - bigger glass
- 100 calories - fluff
- 50 calories - iceberg lettuce salad
- 500 calories (guessing) -- veggie wrap
- 150 calories - wine (i had 2 glasses of water with it!)
1,020 TOTAL

We went to dinner tonight and it wasn't really a challenge and I didn't feel tempted. Probably because this place doesn't have very good food.

Snowy Thursday

It's snowing today...looks pretty.

I'm headed to the gym at about 9:20 for about 30 minutes of lifting and 50 minutes of spinning. I don't like this spinning teacher, but at least I'll get on the bike. I've only been to one of her classes, so I'll give it a try again.

I need to remember to request that the Y put a spinning bike down in the fitness area!

So, again, my TO-DO's for today are:
- 60 min of cardio
- 30 min of strength training
- No booze

I need to figure out what we're going to have for dinner. It sounds like I may be on my own, but there's very little healthy stuff to eat here.

There's still fish and some veggies, so maybe I'll go that route. We have quite a bit of tomatoes, so maybe I'll do this:
- mexican broiled fish (onions, jalapenos, cumin)
- tomato, avacado, cilantro salad

I'm also headed to Claudia's this afternoon and I am going to bring her some goodies. I am not, however, going to participate in that!

UPDATE:
So I did request a spinning bike be put out into the gym. I tried to get into a spinning class but it was full. Bummer.

I decided that if I do have some booze, I'm going to drink a large glass of water with every drink I consumer.

RESULTS:
- 600 calories - 60+ minutes of cycling, 25 minutes of weight lifting

- 125 calories - cookie at claudia's
- 25 calories - coffee at claudia's
- 75 calories - juice at claudia's
- 250 calories - tomato, avacado salad
- 250 calories - shrimp, onions, corn
725 TOTAL (sweet)!

Tomorrow...friday...I'm going to do 60 min of cardio and 30 minutes of weights (upper body). Going to try and get into spinning at 0930. I need to have juice tomorrow, too!

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Wacky Wednesday

RESULTS:

- 400 calories - 60 minutes step aerobics and lifting

- 175 calories - carrot, apple, spinach, ginger, cucumber juice
- 200 calories - red wine
- 500 calories - Bees Knees martini
- 150 calories - spinach, beet, walnut salad
- 200 calories - broccoli bean soup
- 200 calories - pizza
1,425 TOTAL (yikes yikes yikes)

As you can see, about 50% of my calories came from booze...which is absolutely no good. For the next three days (thurs - sat), I'm going to have no booze unless we go out. And if we go out, I'll have one drink.

I need to kick it up in terms of working out. More cardio and more lifting. Working out needs to be 6 days a week. Cardio at 60 minutes per week. Plus 30 minutes of lifting. ...OR...90 minutes of total activity per day.

Thursday - 60 min on machines + 30 min lifting

Friday - 60 min spinning  + 30 min lifting

Saturday - 60 min on machines + 30 min lifting

I also want to have our fun activities be more active!  More walking (sidebar here: when I was losing weight, I was walking in the morning and working out in the afternoon), rollerblading, bowling, skiing, anything active!

We're going out to Scallions for date night. I wish that these dates weren't food centric. I'll just have to make some smart choices!  Update: we didn't go out for dinner. So...

Tuesday Really Got Hosed

What a screwy day.  Not as planned, so here's TODAY (really yesterday) RESULTS:

- 300 - 40 minutes on the stationary bike

- 175 calories - carrot, spinach, apple juice
- 600 calories  - 3 small pieces of pizza (cheese and white flour - yikes!)
- 500 calories - 3 Bees Knees Martinis
1,275 TOTAL (oy)

Starting Again

So I tried this whole thing about a year ago. Failed miserably...obviously. And am giving it a try again.

I'm just damn sick and tired of not being happy with my body. And I've gained about 20 pounds in the past year or so. Ugh. Absolutely no good.

My clothes don't fit. My jeans are either super dooper tight or I can't even button them. Ugh. It makes me so sick.

I just really need to do this once and for all and end it. Truly.

I've been about 120 pounds (give or take a few) for as long as I can remember. So this increase up to about 135 pounds is absolutely unacceptable. I'm embarrassed and just feel gross, gross, gross.

I know that making big meals for Anthony and the kids has contributed greatly to this. And the stress that I've been feeling recently is certainly part of the cause. Drinking so much everyday (because of all the shit) has absolutely contributed, too.

So...

So what?

So this is it. This is my time to get rid of this damn extra weight once and for all. I'm treating it as a birthday gift to myself.

My birthday is June 18. I'll be 37 (whoa). I will be 105 pounds by June 19, 2009.

That's about a 31 pound loss in 5 months. Not extraordinary or undoable. Just over 6 pounds per month...meaning roughly:

February 18 - 130
March 18 - 124
April 18 - 118
May 18 - 112
June 18 - 105

That actually seems gross to me...I want to get down to 120 asap...back to my "normal" weight. I'm not sure I can wait 'til April for that. Sounds depressing. So maybe I can be motivated enough to accelerate that. I hope so!

So my plan is simple: move more and eat less. Along with an attempt to be as vegan as possible. Low carb as possible (no white stuff!). Raw foods as much as possible.

I'm going to blog about my progress daily with hopes that I can keep myself on track by writing about it.

Each day I'll include what I've eaten and approximately how many calories in each and the day's exercise and approximately how many calories were burned.

I'll also be doing bi-weekly weigh in's on Monday and Thursday. And I may do measurements.

Today has been an ok start. Anthony and I went to the gym this morning. My darn ipod had a dead battery and I forgot my water, so it was kind of a bust for me.

---------------------------------------
TODAY'S RESULTS:

- 210 calories - 25 minutes on the stationary bike

- 175 calories - carrot, apple, spinach juice
- 100 calories - taste of green & beans
- 150 calories -  broiled fish
- 200 calories - sauteed escarole & tomatoes & mushrooms
- 175 calories - apple, chive, cheese salad
- 300 calories -  red wine
- 150 calories - small piece of pizza
1,250 TOTAL  (not bad)

Tomorrow I need to work it out twice: one hard workout at the gym (45 minutes of cardio and lifting) and a session at home (yoga?).

For eating, I'm going to have some juice during the day and broccoli soup for dinner.
